Muscat City ride
17 October 2005
An evening with the boys and their gleaming beauties…
A night out with the guys would not sound as exciting as a ride
around the city to most people. That’s exactly what we did on a
pleasant October evening in Muscat.
25 bikers gathered at the Honda Showroom in Wattayah scheduled to
start the ride at 10 pm. We received T-shirts from Honda and put’em
on for pack identity. Instructions on the route map and safety
measures were given and the bikers were stirred up to roll with the
roaring machines and let the wind kiss their faces.
As we took off, a halt at the petrol station was required to refuel
the tanks for the ongoing ride. Our trail was to head towards Ruwi
– Sheraton - Al Wadi Al Kabir - Al Bustan and onward.
A little hitch during the ride was a construction en-route Al Bustan
that required the pack to move in a single file. Passersbys’ feast
their eyes on 25 bikes in a mono trail climbing the slope looking
all strong and impressive.
Observing the 2-second rule, the bikers were out unscratched in no
time.
Thereon heading to Muscat, the pack gaped passed the strong walls of
Old capital being broken and restored to the new Capital – Muscat.
From Muscat we rode aside the shoreline at Corniche and then towards
the city hub of Qurum. A smooth ride towards the beach via the Rose
Garden and Marah Land, then circling the Jawharat A’Shati Complex
as well as Shatti Plaza. Our first stop was at the Al Sarooj gas
station indulging in a light conversation, refreshment and after a
pause of 15 minutes we had our indicators set to reach City Center,
Seeb.
At City Center, we decided to get off our bikes for a stroll in the
mall. Some of the bikers were so obsessed with riding; they peeked
into the gaming arcade to play racing bikes on the video games. A
couple of ‘em needed a fill at the food court. We then headed back
to Muscat via the Seeb Beach road concluding the Muscat City ride.
As we dispersed a few hours to dawn at 2am, we could say the evening
spent was just perfect!
