Bike ride
From Honda Showroom to Golden Tulip Nizwa Hotel
Friday 30th September 2005- long winding roads, roaring machines and
a beautiful destination.
It was a slow start, with a handful of bikers arriving at the Honda
Showroom, Wattayah by 7.30 am. A mood for a long ride triggered
the bikers and all 32 of them were charged up to take off to Nizwa.
But not yet…
Refreshments were served as courtesy by Honda, after which a small
briefing on the safety measures and the route map was given by Mr.
Bob Turnbridge. This helped the bikers understand the procedures
and the seriousness of this ride.
All set to take on the160kms of ups and downs, with slopes and
curves, the bikers left in groups of cruisers which were leading
the pack, followed by the sports bikes. It seem like just the right
prescription that makes heads turn.
We began the ride at 8.30am and our first meet up point was the
Shell Petrol Station at the Burj Al Sahwa roundabout. From here on
we head towards Bid Bid, which was our next meeting point.
With two routes to reach the Golden Tulip Nizwa Hotel, via Izki and
via Lazuk, we decided to take the road via Lazuk. Here’s what’s
interesting…Few of the bikers missed the route riding all the way
to Izki, seems like they had a good deal of fun on the way finally
reaching the destination by 11:15am.
While some decided to take a dip in the pool, some played pool and
foosball and the others just decided to relax in the lounge. By
12.30 pm the lunch buffet was laid and all were set to eat their
hearts content, relishing every bite.
After an elaborate luncheon, the bikers decided to disperse as some
had to leave early and head back, while others wanted to go sight
seeing; bringing BikersOman.com’s third ride to a finish. Yet
another memorable event for all the participants.
We have the holy month of Ramadan following and BikersOman.com would
like to wish all the bikers “Ramadan Mubarak”. We may not have any
bike rides during this month but we will keep you all posted on the
upcoming events.
Thank you Bikers!
