Bike Ride
From Honda Showroom to Quriyat
25th November 2005- Welcome to Quriyat
A
not so hot Friday morning when 36 bikers accumulated at the Honda
Showroom by 9 am for a ride to Quriyat. Departure was suppose to be
at sharp 9am, however were delayed by half an hour due to detailed
safety and route briefings given by Mr. Farid Shaheibi. Once all
the queries of all the bikers were answered we set out on our
journey. We were accompanied for this trip with a service jeep, a
Land Cruiser driven by Mr. Jameel Mohammed which also had a roof
top which aided our photographer Elvis John. Elvis equipped with a
Canon EOS 350D went wild on the picturesque sceneries and beauty
machines.
We made our first stop at the Wadi Hatat Shell petrol station and
from there on the bikers left in two groups of cruisers and sports
bikes. After passing the five roundabouts and taking a left to
Quriyat on the last one we were on a two way traffic road. Our next
stop was at the Siya junction where both the groups were to meet
up. Once all were together we head into the Siya village where all the people and children clapped and waved
while all the bikers passed by. We had a head count and then headed
off to Arqi which is another village close to Siya. From there on
we head to return at the same Siya junction from where we came to
turn and head towards Quriyat.
From here on we passed through long winding roads both uphill and
down hill and view was excellent as 36 roaring machines cut
through. Our next stop was the Oman Oil Petrol station right at the
entrance of Quriyat. Once both the groups accumulated here we head
to Al Khabourah to picnic spot by the beach to have a few light
snacks courtesy Honda. After a lot of chatting and photo clicking
the group decided to head together into the Quriyat harbour and
then back to a Shell petrol station at the mouth of Quriyat. After
refueling the bikers head back to meet up again at the Wadi Hatat
Shell petrol station and then to PDO Ras Al Hamra Club for a quick
good bye.
